Just touched down in London Town.
London was Brilliant. New Blood was a fantastic experience, and Earls Court was Jam packed with fresh talent. Alex and Mike did a great job of putting our show together, thanks for that guys, and hope all of the fantastic book crits you have lined up give you everything you hope for. Thanks to Martyn’s sister we stayed in a lovely house, pretty much next door to Tower Bridge and only one tube ride away from the exhibition. Soho was a great night out (work hard, play hard right?), we all took it by storm after finding out our results! I got a 2:1 which I am so pleased with, all my hard work paid off. Back to the exhibition, I managed to blag a book crit, form two great guys @ Leo Burnett in London, Trevor Webb and Tony Durston. They were really complimentary and gave me some sound advice, which i completley agreed with, and they even helped to improved a couple of my lines. For a book crit, it was quite laid back which I liked, and we ended up having a laugh! Very nice guys, and should I ever move to London, theirs is the first door I’ll be knocking on. My business cards flew off the shelves, and It was a great place to meet new contact.
As for me
……just as I was putting pen to paper, writing a letter of application to Tescos, the phone rang. I couldn’t believe, TBWA had a little Becks shaped placement space in their Didsbury office. Fantastic, I can’t wait!! I start tomorrow and although the nerves are slightly kicking in, I can’t wait to get cracking and give it my all. What an amazing opportunity and thanks to Mick & Rich for opening the big Church door….I’ll keep you posted, wish me luck!

I am so in to this Lexus Ad at the moment, near where I live it’s plastered on every bill board going! It’s so simple and effective, I think the communication is brilliant and the line is stylish, fitting in perfectly with Lexus’ brand personality. It’s about time Lexus lowered their emissions, and I have a feeling they’re cheekily poking fun at the whole ‘greener’ world thing. I think it’s kind of saying, yeah our cars are really bad for the atmosphere, but now we’ve made one that isn’t, and it’s a lot better looking than any one else’s effort. If only I could afford one………x

It’s that time of year when desperate/hopeful graduates attend New Blood in London, exhibiting their work in the hope that employers will give them a placement, or even a job! However I won’t get ahead of myself, I’m most looking forward to getting more names in my ‘little black book’ (of contacts that is) and chatting to people who know what they’re talking about. Not only that, seeing where my Uni (Preston) ranks in terms of work standard. I have applied for a book crit and although I’ll probably get crucified I can’t wait! Maybe knock backs and constructive criticism, once you’ve got over falling off the horse a few times, are actually a bit of a rush. How dull would it be to hear great feedback all the time? I also emailed a lady called tamsin my blog address, she was really nice, and said the CD’s at her place were really interested. Two problems, they only take on teams, and the placement is in London. It being in London is not such a problem, for the right job I’d go anywhere, (however my heart is Manchester shaped), it’s the partnership thing. It’s tricky, some places like to set you up when you get there, some places won’t take you on unless you have a partner….maybe the single life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be? I don’t think so……x
We can only take two pieces to London & it was a bit last minute, below are the ones i’ve chosen and my substitute in case we can sneak another one up. Wish me luck for London, I have a little something up my sleeve and hope to bring you good news on my return!!!……Becks xx

When Martyn asked me if I wanted to go and watch The Police in Concert I was a bit apprehensive, concerts are’nt like clubs, if there rubbish you can’t leave early! However I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised, in fact I had a great time! And if anyone has grown old gracefully, it’s sting. I think I have actually fallen in love with him! He looked so rugged and handsome, next time it won’t be a spare ticket, I’ll be ringing up myself for front row seats! I knew a few songs, Roxanne, I’ll be watcing you, and don’t stand so close to me…here’s some stuff from the night….. thanks for the invite Mart, Becks x
